Rabble Wine Company founder Rob Murray is a longtime winegrower whose vineyard-first mindset will always drive our wines. We have worked with each of our vineyards for more than 10 years. We maintain a final say in all aspects of farming, and every block is painstakingly grown to meet our vision for Rabble, Tooth & Nail, Amor Fati and Stasis wines.
Our four vineyards are:
Tooth & Nail Estate / Willow Creek District, Paso Robles
The Tooth & Nail estate vineyard occupies rolling slopes at the base of the Santa Lucia mountains. The gravelly Linne-Calodo complex soils feature the type of limestone-rich ingredients found in some of the world’s greatest winegrowing regions. The vineyard spans 10 acres, including 20-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines and newer plantings of a Tempranillo clone from Rioja; a Malbec clone from Bordeaux; and a head-trained block of Mourvedre.
Murmur / Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County
Murmur Vineyard unfolds along sandy south-facing hills just 13 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Rabble Wine Company founder Rob Murray personally planted this vineyard and knows every nook, cranny and draw. The terrain is eclectic and complex, allowing for considerable diversity. Syrah and Grenache are grown in the warmer pockets, while Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are planted to blocks where the cool marine air is most persistent.
Mossfire / Estrella District, Paso Robles
Mossfire Vineyard is found on the San Miguel bench overlooking the Paso Robles valley floor. A cobbled streambed runs through it, and the sandy-gravelly loam soils provide excellent drainage and optimal vine stress. Mossfire is a red variety stalwart for us, producing richly rendered Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Armour Ridge / Estrella District, Paso Robles
Armour Ridge occupies a river bench southwest of Mossfire. The dark, fertile topsoil belies a deep subsoil of ancient river cobble, alluvium and gravel. The warm conditions and steady ripening patterns at Armour Ridge yield fruit with a signature silky softness. We source Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from Armour Ridge to bring dimension to Rabble blends.
